BRCA - British Winter Open photo report - Part 2

So during my last post we had an exciting look through the cars that were raced during the recent BRCA British Winter Open that was hosted by Silverstone Model Car Club at the brilliant Moulton College sports hall in Northamptonshire. This second part of my photo report will give you all a chance to see some of the other interesting action that went on during the 2 day event. As some of you may have read over at oOple, our friend and ORRC supporter Kev Lee piloted his Kyosho Lazer 4wd to a wonderful win during day 2's racing. Well done Kev, he seems to be really settling in to his new team drive and I personally can not wait to see him out on the green stuff during the upcoming National series. Enjoy the photos and stay tuned for more track side action very shortly :)

The spacious pit area was full of hard working racers getting their kit ready

The winning Kyosho of Kev Lee chills out in the pit area with it's shoes off

Tony 'Rudebits' Evdoka, always smiling, always helpful, and always a real pleasure to spend any meeting with

Team Losi super star Darren Bloomefield introduces his front tyres to his little friend Mr Dremel

Insert trimming and tyre shaving was the order of the day during the 2wd heats

I have a real soft spot for KO radios! Phil Sleigh's handset up close

The venue was warm, well lit, and generally perfect considering the outside temperature was reported to be -16.5 locally!!!

It never fails to amaze me how a boring sports hall can be transformed into a bustling pit area in half an hour....just add top quality racers ;)

CML & Team Associated legend Phil Sleigh 'gives it some wrist'...get your minds out of the gutter! I was talking about his screw driver :)

The winners were to receive some gorgeous trophy bling for their collections...hold on! What is that strange beast in the reflection....oh!

I have watched this car at 4 meetings recently and it is ballistic quick every single lap. Darren Bloomefield is the pilot

The Pro painters have been busy over the New Year

This was the view only 15 yards from the track. Amazing venue...just a little cold outside

A Centro C4.1 shows off it's new Cream camber mounts and carbon shock tower

The residents next door to the sports hall didn't seem to mind us playing with our toy cars :)

Schumacher star Grant Williams resting between rounds

Every time I see a Vega it looks like it is about to eat the buggy in front of it...mean mutha!

I just had to get a close up of this Cougar...love the crazy paint...this was representing the www.racedates.com crew

Thankfully the drivers didn't have to race the track from this angle

Ansmann star Danny McGee offers Ellis Stafford of X Factory a helping hand!

The 2WD lads line up for their qualifying round

The Durango 210 of Paul Field awaits some surgery

Phil Sleigh's Centro C4.1 complete with brand new shell. So new that Phil was adding his stickers when we first got into the pit area

Team Associated racing legend Tom Yardy let me actually climb inside his tool box!

It was a really wonderful race meeting down at Moulton College. Matt Owen and the Silverstone club members ran a super smooth and professional race meeting. The BRCA officials were faultless as per usual, and every racer was warm, friendly, and cool to watch both on and off the track. I look forward to returning to this event next year. Thank you to everybody who made this photo report possible.
